“We shape the clay into a pot; but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want.” – Lao-Tzu
Colleen’s focus on Leadership and Personal Development Coaching is what drew me to her. As we began working together and I started to experience her approach as one which really is about seeking out the balance in both parts of clients’ lives - professional and personal – I knew I had made the right pick for me. My objective in our time together was to rediscover the joy that had once been mine in the workplace. In a recent periodic performance review, my boss encouraged me to look into some executive coaching. My talks with Colleen helped me to uncover why I had lost motivation and to determine what was most important to me. In identifying my values and priorities, I was able to make a change in my job which has had significant meaning to me. I now have my motivation - both on the job and the private fronts - back!
As a young professional making a significant career transition, I was looking for a trusted ally to help me hold up a mirror and take the big steps I needed to take to maximize my new opportunity. I found the authenticity and encouragement I was seeking in a coach in Colleen -- and she helped me tune in to the same qualities I wanted to nurture in myself. I'm glad I made the investment.
When I began working with Colleen, I had a list of obstacles which were getting in the way of my being an effective leader. After only a few coaching conversations with Colleen, I am delighted to say that my enthusiasm and drive toward building Noise Free America to the level I envisioned from the beginning have been ignited. Thanks to the concrete, focused action steps Colleen gave me, to her helping me decipher what my priorities are and to the accompaniment and accountability which are part of her coaching, I now enjoy greater freedom in my entrepreneurial role and an improved relationship with a key colleague. Moreover, I have been able to act more like the leader I always knew I could be.
As a direct result of Colleen’s “Gaining a Seat at the Table” presentation, the professional women of Genworth were able to walk away with a very clear sense of (i) how we might be getting in our own way regarding our professional goals and (ii) how we can better empower ourselves to achieve our professional desires. Conducted with humor, specific examples and ample audience engagement, it was exactly the presentation we were counting on when we hired Colleen for the talk. Participants left with specific, executable methods to gain exposure and promote themselves within the company. Her focus on authenticity and on women business leaders make her a perfect pick for any women’s group looking for a pick-me-up.
Colleen is a skilled coach and listener. I have benefitted greatly from the insight she has been able to offer, usually resulting in an important "aha" moment enabling me to jump over the next hurdle. Colleen creates a safe atmosphere from which, if you are willing, you will be able to start tearing down negative, destructive behaviors and focus on strengthening the talents and strengths you already possess. I highly recommend Colleen and Authentic Leadership International!
Working with Colleen and Authentic Leadership has helped me so much. I was very skeptical at first but very willing to try the coaching. I decided to keep my mind open because I knew that if I didn't, I would never realize my dreams. Through working with Colleen I was able to uncover many obstacles that were standing in my way and keeping me from the success I desire. Colleen has helped me to establish a solid foundation from which I can now continue to build and hone my leadership skills in a business atmosphere. Thank you, Colleen!!!
CompassPoint Nonprofit Services (www.compasspoint.org) and the Meyer Foundation (www.meyerfoundation.org) conducted a study titled “Daring to Lead”. One key finding is that executives and CEO’s of nonprofits ranked executive coaching as a highly effective development strategy yet 10% of respondents were working with a coach. As a development tool for all non-profits coaching is the key strategy that can produce lasting outcomes. I highly recommend coaching.
Triangle Family Services has been fortunate to have executive management work directly with Colleen Slaughter in providing coaching with direct impact. I immediately saw increase in structured time and reports from Colleen’s meeting with our key manger This allowed my time with the manger to be more productive.
Through working with Colleen I was able to achieve greater confidence during the hiring process. She helped me understand the ins and outs of interviewing, how to pose the right questions and answer in a compelling way that enabled me to appear more professional, effective, and polished. Colleen is terrific!
We were delighted with Colleen’s presentation 'Setting Boundaries to Spring Forward: the Role of Balance in Your Professional Success'. Not only did Colleen put forward an innovative approach to fulfillment and productivity, but her presentation also engendered a very lively and engaging discussion among all of the participants. We learned a lot and enjoyed ourselves at the same time. Colleen comes with our high recommendation!
I was very impressed with Colleen's presentation on "The Six Emotions of Effective Leaders" I recently attended. What a fresh and insightful perspective for the type of "new thought" that is in great need for the corporate arena. I highly recommend her as a coach and a speaker. Well done!
Colleen provided the Kick-Off Lecture, “What is Coaching?” for North Carolina’s Public Health Quality Improvement Advisor Program in November 2010. The Program’s goal is to train public health staff to become Quality Improvement Advisors to provide technical support within their public health agencies or geographic region. Colleen created a forum for participants to learn more about coaching through providing a nice balance of instructional time and interaction with the participants and through sharing resources to allow the participants to continue strengthening their knowledge of coaching on their own. We were very pleased with her presentation and enjoyed working with her. Colleen ensured that the Program got off to a great start.
Colleen Slaughter did a fabulous job speaking at the Business and Professional Women / North Carolina Women Empowered and Enlightened event in November 2010. She is very insightful and provided our attendees with tools for success in changing times. I recommend her highly.
The participants in our programs have been able to connect both professionally and personally with Colleen - allowing them to engage on a deeper, more core level. She has served as an extension of our organization by guiding these young women to identify their real and self-imposed limitations, develop an action plan, and move into the extraordinary. Her facilitation has been priceless to us and our clients.
Colleen has been instrumental in helping me achieve more on both a personal and professional level. By listening to my “stories,” asking probing questions, and sharing meaningful observations, Colleen has taught me that the way I was perceiving my challenges was not serving me. One of many “aha moments” was when I learned to stop struggling and start solving. I am very grateful to Colleen for sharing so many profound insights and helping me attain – and even exceed some of – my goals. I’m now experiencing improved relationships with my husband and stepchildren, overall greater peace and clarity, and a re-ignited business. In fact, I doubled my number of clients in only five days!
I immediately felt comfortable with Colleen. She has exceptional skill in supporting clients to get in touch with their true selves. After only a few weeks of working together, I was able to come to a deeper understanding of myself which allowed me to approach my HR role with greater clarity, drive and impact.
I value my work with Colleen immensely. She has helped be to uncover the blocks in my life and to find real solutions. The tools she has given me are varied, adapted to each situation and I can use them for as long as I live. What I like about working with Colleen is that she never goes into complex, convoluted analysis, yet goes to the source of the issue, offering a frank perspective and feasible, practical solutions. I appreciate Colleen’s ‘no-nonsense’ approach, her integrity, resourcefulness, insight and compassion. It is obvious she is motivated by a strong desire to see her clients move ahead in their goals. Colleen has definitely put me on the right path to reaching mine.
Colleen displayed an adept balance between compassion and pushing me to develop. She has a great way of getting people to look at something from a different perspective and to stay in alignment with that person’s priorities. Most of all, Colleen’s caring and professional approach helped me identify and face things part of me would prefer not to and to bring out the best in me. Colleen has a knack for her craft. She is a natural. She uses her many layers of knowledge to come up with creative suggestions. Her gentle and guiding questions make the process of self-discovery easier and more joyful than I have ever experienced. Just about everything she said seemed to be the right question at the right time. That’s where Colleen stands out head and shoulders over other people.
